Hello friends,
I must apologize for my lack of activity in the last few months, school has really been my priority and therefore I've had to cut out a lot of things that I love doing. I noticed that I never even acknowledged my last milestone of 6,000 pageviews (whenever that happened!) and I noticed I'm a little over halfway to the next one, so THANK YOU to all who come visit my page, support my work via comments or favs!! I really am thankful and appreciative to know that my work is appreciated by others.

So this semester is over, and I will be heading home next week for the holidays. I am ready for a break, and milder weather. Today has been the first major snowstorm of the season here, and we are facing single-digit temperatures in the coming days...

I have not had much of a chance to have any great photo adventures lately, but hopefully over break I will be more relaxed and inspired and therefore may get something new posted. Although, I still never got the my Oregon Coast pics from the summer, so maybe that will be my first goal. I did Hawaii, and weddings, but Oregon is still to come.

When I graduate in May, I will officially be a school counselor, one of the hardest but most needed and rewarding jobs. The kids I work with now during my internship take a toll on me mentally and emotionally. So many of them lack the most basic and taken-for-granted things in life; LOVE. So many different situations and backgrounds, but it's the one thing that ties all of them together. We strive for connection and relationships as humans. It's a deficit I try to shrink conversation by conversation, day by day, with praise, encouragement, accountability, tough love, and prayer. I can't "fix" anyone, but if I can make the slightest difference in any one of these kiddos' lives, then I am happy. So on this note, this is what I wish for you all as yet another year comes to an end this holiday season:
Regardless of what the holiday season looks like for you, how and what you celebrate, I hope that we can all agree on this: in times like these when the world can be such an ugly place with everything that's happened from Mumbai to financial and economic hardship and political corruption to children disappearing and murders for no apparent reasons, (this list could go on and on but you get the point), I hope that we can unite as citizens our countries but rather as citizens of the world, and zoom out a little bit to look at the greater picture. Let's be thankful for what we do have, for good health, for family and friends and the relationships that bless us day in and day out. Let's pray and help those who aren't as fortunate, they need help now more than ever. For me this year I hope to re-experience Christmas through the eyes of a child; I want to feel that magical feeling I had and get all warm and fuzzy knowing that there is nowhere else I'd rather be than with my family by the fireplace drinking hot cocoa.

I'd like to put this journal to some good use! Instead of my sad ramblings of my life, I'm going to post some links to unique websites that I think are great--great causes, great ideas, great ways to help people far and wide. If you are reading this, you obviously have web access, so here are some other sites worth checking out. Should you be inclined to help others this holiday season or whenever, take your pick and visit one or any of these!
